Winning Filmmaker Interview // Frogboy by Jehan Madhani

WISFF catches up with Jehan Madhani, the talented filmmaker behind last years Best Student Film award.

Can you tell me a little bit about ‘Frogboy’ and what made you want to tell this story?
Honestly, it started because I very much wanted to draw a bear wearing a shirt and tie and flipping pancakes. I had a distincphoto 5t image that I wanted realized. From that image, the (very short) story grew. I also really love making people laugh, and FrogBoy did that, while allowing me to reach a far greater audience.

photo 1Can you tell me what you have been up to since winning ‘Best Student Film’ at the 2014 WISFF?
I’m still in school, trying to improve, learn new skills, and become a better storyteller and artist.

Are you working on anything new at the moment?
I’m exploring comedy through different media– I’m now writing sketch comedy with a group on campus. I keep busy with different animation, writing, and film classes, as well as extracurriculars with a similar focus. I’ve tried to branch out into stop-motion animation as well.

Thanks Jehan!
